My TTC journey | Finally I Was Pregnant

I used hundreds of ovulation and pregnancy tests trying to conceive.

For three long years, I used hundreds of ovulation and pregnancy tests trying to conceive. I tried every trick in the book, from intimate positions to putting oil in my belly button.

What worked best in my opinion was tracking my cycles with an ovulation test and starting multiple vitamins. It took a while to get the hang of it. I ended up downloading an app that kept track of my cycles and it gave me pointers during my fertile windows.

Those three years were excruciating

On every pregnancy test, I took I checked for faint lines hoping for them to get darker and some did and some didn't. It really helped using the ovulation test, figuring out when I was going to ovulate and how to tell the signs of ovulation. Mines were light cramps and really thick white discharge.

I had 5 miscarriages in my TTC journey.

I had 5 miscarriages in the time frame of trying to conceive. In the last year of trying to conceive we actually ended up giving up. It was when we gave up and just started having fun with it that we finally conceived. It was almost like my body was just ready and we took pregnancy tests, not even a minute later the positive line popped up.

I was pregnant

It's kind of funny looking back at it, my fiance had a gut feeling I was pregnant because I was being extra moody and my breasts were more sensitive but then again we had just pierced them (that did not work out in the long run).

I heard my son's heartbeat for the first time

Not knowing exactly what to do, at the time I was drinking I immediately quit; call the doctor, and made an appointment. I was 3 weeks by the time I got to the doctor and we made an ultrasound appointment and I heard my son's heartbeat for the first time. But it was hard to get excited knowing that I've had so many miscarriages.

I start tracking my son's heartbeat

I continued taking pregnancy tests checking every single one hoping to see the line get darker or I thought I was going to miscarry again. I ended up getting a heartbeat monitor and started tracking my son's heartbeat for months until I felt confident he was going to make it.

I loved getting ultrasounds

It was amazing being pregnant and experiencing everything. For the first 3 months, I was still taking pregnancy tests and ovulation tests making sure that they remained positive. I know it seems silly but I was really paranoid. I ended up needing to change doctors because the doctor that I had was not treating me right. I found a better doctor and she was very helpful. I loved getting ultrasounds. They were my favorite part; getting to see my son grow.

I remember feeling my son's first kick around 23 weeks

Every chance I got I was watching my abdomen waiting for it to grow. I didn't start showing till around 4 and 1/2 months which was unsettling because I thought there may have been something wrong. I ended up getting a heartbeat monitor and that really helped settle my nerves.

I had some really weird cravings I like olives, hot wings, pizza, pickles, hot fries, dairy although I'm allergic, and peanut butter which I'm also allergic to. I remember feeling my son's first kick around 23 weeks it was the best feeling in the world and my fiance got to feel him at 30 weeks.

I went into labor at exactly 38 weeks and 5 days and my water broke at home

But once he got the hang of kicking in the womb his favorite spots were my bladder and my rib cage but it was worth it. It was interesting going down dirt roads in our truck because with every bump my son would kick hard or calm down.

I ended up losing my mucus plug early around 35 weeks and I thought I was going to deliver early, I also started dilating at that point. I went into labor at exactly 38 weeks and 5 days and my water broke at home. The hospital being an hour away was scary; I thought we were going to deliver on the road.

We got to the hospital my water was still breaking

Every time I had a contraction more water kept gushing out and I could feel my son's foot in my rib cage and it just kept getting tighter and tighter. By the time we got to the hospital my water was still breaking, there was so much water and the blood doctor and nurses didn't seem concerned.

I was in labor for a little over 12 hours with little to no pain medication

I swear everyone had their hand in me checking the dilation progress. I was in labor for a little over 12 hours with little to no pain medication, no epidural due to spinal fusion. I had an emergency C-section because my son's vitals were dropping with contractions and I wasn't dilating past 6 cm. Our son was born healthy but with only a couple of minor complications that he had to have surgery for.

My son came out healthy

Although it took a very long time I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to have my son and that he came out healthy many challenges came after but that would be another story.
